Hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) is the clinical diagnosis for persistently low desire causing personal distress, with no adequate explanation from physical factors alone. FDA-approved treatments for HSDD in premenopausal women include flibanserin (a daily oral medication affecting serotonin and dopamine signaling) and bremelanotide (an injectable melanocortin agonist used on-demand). Neither is a cure, and both work best alongside psychological support.
